Pupper’s daily transition guide

The transition onto Lyka is best achieved for the majority of puppers using either a 7 or 14 day incremental change.

If feeding kibble we recommend to wet down the kibble progressively so it’s soaked to a mash the day before serving Lyka.

This allows your pupper time to adjust to a species-appropriate moisture content.

Take it slow

Your pupper may want to gobble and go, but we gotta’ take it slow by gradually introducing their new Lyka bowls in the first week. If you go for the “cold turkey” swap, there’s a high chance it won’t go smoothly.

Transitioning FAQ’s

Q: What is the Transition Support probiotic in my first box?

A: This is a blend of high quality live microbes which may boost your pupper’s intestinal health and assist with a smooth transition to Lyka.

Q: How much Transition Support do I need to add to the food before I’m feeding 100% Lyka?

Dog Size:

  • Small Dog: 1 teaspoon per day
  • Medium Dog: 2 teaspoons per day
  • Large Dog: 3 teaspoons per day

Q: Can I order more of your Transition Support probiotic?

A: Yes, if you used up the jar we include in your first order, you can order more for your pupper if you need ($7 per jar). Simply let us know and we’ll add another jar in your next box.

Q: How long does Lyka last in the fridge once defrosted?

A: Once defrosted, our pouches will last in your fridge for up to two days.

Q: My dog is doing some very stinky farts? Is that due to the change in diet?

A: During a transition in diet, it’s quite normal for pups to experience an upset tummy, which includes runny poops and farts. In our experience, there’s nothing to worry about just yet. Our general feedback from Lyka puppers is that they fart less after switching to Lyka, your pupper’s tummy will likely calm down after this initial transition period.

Q: Do I serve Lyka warm or cold?

A: It’s really up to you whether simply to defrost our meals, or warm them up. We have customers doing both, so feel free to serve up how your pups best enjoy it. 😊

Q: What’s the clip in my box?

A: In your first Lyka box you’ll find a clip. If you serve multiple meals, or are on our Half Bowl plan this clip helps to keep your pouches fresh between servings.

Q: How do I defrost the food?

A: Store all of pupper’s pouches in the freezer. We recommend defrosting each pouch the night before feeding by moving it to the fridge, so it can defrost overnight. If you’re looking for a speedy defrost, you can place your Lyka pouch in a pot of warm water.

Q: What is the Free Range Cheery Choice Chicken Bowl?

A: Lyka’s Cheery Choice Chicken Bowl is formulated to slowly build gut resilience through a careful balance of pre and probiotic, nutrient dense wholefoods that are easily digestible, soothing and cleansing. This recipe will slowly transition your dog onto our full bowl plan that includes a wider range of superfood ingredients.

This recipe is not complete and balanced, and is designed for a short term transitionary period, before moving to the full Lyka Bowl range. Adult dogs are recommended to stay on this recipe a maximum of 4-6 week, or 1 x week on a long-term basis, mixing with our other Full Bowl Recipe Range.
