How real food helped Teddy say goodbye to vomits and runny poos

Teddy the spoodle outdoors

Teddy the Spoodle battled vomiting and runny poos for nearly a decade, which lead to picky eating habits. As he neared his tenth birthday, Chloe decided it was time to try Lyka.

The switch to real food has not only left Teddy’s tummy issues in the past: it’s helped him maintain an active lifestyle even in his senior years: keeping up with Chloe on walks and runs like a “little energiser bunny”.

It’s never too late to make a change!

Meet Chloe and her bubble-loving Spoodle, Teddy

It was love at first sight for Chloe and Teddy — as it is for so many of us.

“Teddy chose me. We had another little puppy picked out, but he was bounding up at the gate like a mad man and practically leapt into my arms when it was opened for him. From that moment, we knew we were meant for each other.”

Chloe is a teacher, and started taking Teddy to work with her every day. It wasn’t long before Teddy was the most popular boy in school — you’d often find Teddy having a cuddle on a student’s lap, or paying a visit to various classrooms and office staff members.

Chloe’s favourite sound? His little feet sprinting down the hallways.

Teddy is known for his affectionate nature, as well as his obsession with bubbles:

“Teddy is obsessed with bubbles. And I mean obsessed. He will chase them for hours. He also licks constantly. He will just lick the air. The vet said the only two ways a dog can show love is to wag their tail and lick, so I’m pretty okay with it. He obviously just has a lot of love to give!”

Teddy’s struggle with digestive issues

For years, Teddy was eating highly processed dog food and experiencing reflux after meals. He would vomit bile at least once a day and vomit up entire dinners at least 5-10 times a month.

He was extremely fussy and refused to eat from his own bowl: though he’d gladly take leftovers from Chloe’s plate. No matter what Chloe tried, Teddy wouldn’t eat.

She knew this wasn’t sustainable, and Chloe wanted to give Teddy his best chance at a long and healthy life — with all the nutrients he needed, inside and out.

The transition to real food

Chloe decided to try cooking Teddy’s meals herself to make sure he was eating high-quality ingredients. However, as a vegetarian, she struggled with cooking up meat for her dog. Then, she found Lyka:

“I loved the ethos behind why Anna created the business for Lyka. Many of her frustrations echoed mine. I could see the genuine passion all the Lyka team have for dog health. This made me feel safe trusting them with Ted’s nutrition. I also loved supporting a strong female led Australian small business.”

No more vomiting and reflux: "I'm honestly amazed".

Since transitioning onto Lyka, Teddy now has no more issues with vomiting and reflux, much to Chloe’s relief:

“This in itself would be enough for me to rave from the rooftops about Lyka. Ted had really loud and bubbly digestive noises, these have completely stopped. His poos are now regular and always appear much easier for him to go. They aren’t runny at all anymore.”

Chloe has also seen improvements in his fur and breath, and noticed how much energy he has:

“Being a Spoodle, his hair can get matted when it is long. I have noticed he can go longer in between grooms now as his hair is so silky, he’s not getting as many knots. His breath is far less smelly, which is a huge thing given how much he licks and wants to be all up in your grill. The vet is always shocked when she realises how old he actually is.”
