How to give your pup some extra lovin’ on Love Your Pet Day!
We know you’re obsessed with your pups and would do anything for them, but with it being Love Your Pet Day on Saturday 20 February, we thought you might want to do a little something extra to show them how much you appreciate their furry presence in your life. From a dog holiday to a fun brunch, here are our top ten tips:
1. Say ‘I love you’
There’s no time for embarrassment here, now is the time to kiss and cuddle your fur baby, and own that high-pitched voice that only your pupper adores, and tell them how much you love them – trust us, they know what you’re saying! This is a plain and simple, but very effective way to show your pupper some serious lovin’.
2. Give your pup a massage to relax
For many pups, there can never be too many pats from their human. So why not go above and beyond and treat them to an entire doggy massage.
Massaging your pup not only makes them feel good, but it can also assist those who suffer from stress, anxiety and arthritis, helping them to relax and feel at ease.
Starting at the neck, work your way down your pup’s body with calm, gentle strokes, adjusting the pressure as needed, careful not to push or squeeze too hard. For an extra feel-good moment for your pupper – and if they’ll comfortably let you – why not massage your pup’s ears? This movement releases endorphins, those deliciously happy, feel-good hormones. Voila, hello happy pupper!

3. Get walking
Explore the wide open spaces and take them on a walk they’ve never been on, visit a doggy beach they’ve never run on, or just go the opposite way to usual when walking out of your gate.
Our leash collar and harness picks include the Forest Green + Brass Rope Dog Leash from Animals in Charge, the Veronica Collar from Pillie Pooches, the Sasha Dog Lead from Molly Barker and the DF Co. Dog Harness from Dog Friendly Co.
4. Teach & treat
Why not take the time to teach your pup some new tricks – with a side of treats for bribery, of course!

5. Surprise with a new toy

Some of our top picks include the Barker Treat Ball, Doggo Avo Toast, Nylon Pipe Wrench, and Olly the Octopus.
6. Invest in a new bed
We all know how good it feels to hop into a bed with brand new sheets, so why not freshen up your pup’s sleep time with a new bed.
Our faves include the iconic Barney Bed, the Cuddler from Snooza and the PlushMat! Plus from Rover Pet Products.
